Larry Thomas, 81, of Johnston, Iowa, and formerly of Pilot Mound, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Larry Dennis Thomas was born on September 9, 1935, in Valley Junction, West Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Ed and Sadie (Kimsey) Thomas. Larry graduated with the Pilot Mound High School class of 1955. After his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy.

On June 26, 1986, he was united in marriage to Diana Summy in South Padre Island, Texas. Larry worked as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years retiring in 1998.

Larry loved his 1965 mercury, love to travel down route 66, going to Florida with there good friends, and traveling many miles with his old cars.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Thomas of Johnston, Iowa, his beloved dog Dude.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
