Pauline L. Kuhl, 86, formerly of Pilot Mound,passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Regency Park Nursing & Rehab in Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound. Pastor Beth Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service. For online obituaries and condolences visit:

Pauline Louise Zunkel was born on January 1, 1931, in Pilot Mound, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Ella (Hedblom) Zunkel. She graduated with the Pilot Mound High School class of 1948. After graduation she attended business school in Omaha. Following business school Pauline worked for the ASC office in Boone.

On February 4, 1951, Pauline was united in marriage to Don Kuhl at the United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound. The couple lived and farmed southeast of Pilot Mound for 57 years. Pauline began working as a postal clerk in 1963, she became postmaster for 10 years before retiring in 1989.

Pauline was a member of the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and previously sang in the church choir. Pauline enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, gardening and sewing.

Survivors include her children, Randy Kuhl of Pilot Mound, Iowa, Lori (Joe) Redeker of Boone, Iowa, and Larry of Jefferson, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Mike) Gibbs, Mike, Grant, Leah, and Christine Redeker, and Ashley and Nicole Kuhl; one great granddaughter, Reagan Redeker; one sister, Janet Elliott (Robert Harris).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Kuhl on October 8, 2010, one brother, Darrell Zunkel.
