Roger Hoshaw, 81, of Webster City and formerly of Stratford, Iowa, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2017, at the Windsor Manor in Webster City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. Pastor Gina Spohnheimer will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Stratford. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Calvary United Methodist Church. For online obituaries and condolences visit:

James Roger Hoshaw was born on December 27, 1935, in Stratford, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Pearl (Neese) Hoshaw. He attended schools in the area of his birth.

On November 28, 1953, Roger was united in marriage to Irene Osborn at the Methodist Parsonage in Stratford. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Shelley, Kevin and Darle. Roger and Irene lived in Stratford for 79 years, until moving to the Windsor Manor in September of 2015.

Roger was a proud employee of Colonial Heating & Sheet Metal in Fort Dodge for over 26 years and member of Local #45 for 49 + years. He previously served on the Stratford City Council. Roger attended McGuire Bend Church for over 50 years where he also served as a Committee Member.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Hoshaw of the Windsor Manor in Webster City; a daughter, Shelley (Dave) Marvin of Boone, Iowa; two sons, Kevin (Julie) Hoshaw of Stratford, Iowa, and Darle (Nancy) Hoshaw of Forest City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, four brothers, Francis, Dean, Gary, and Bill Hoshaw, and four sisters, Shirley Clausen, Maxine Silvey, Carolyn Iles, and Barbara Hoshaw in infancy, preceded him in death.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
